Cela fait trois ans que la mairie de Dakar-Plateau avait démoli le bâtiment historique du marché de Sandaga. À l'époque, la raison avancée était la reconstruction de l'édifice à cause de sa vétusté. Les travaux devaient durer 24 mois, mais jusqu'à présent rien est sorti de terre. Quand aux commerçants, délogés des lieux, ils fustigent les lenteurs notées dans ce projet. Certains se plaignent de l'insécurité qui sévit au niveau du marché et d'autres se disent confrontés à des déguerpissements de leurs magasins par le préfet de Dakar.
